KidSight: Using a special screening camera, our club goes to preschools and day care centers, along with many special health fair events, to screen preschool aged children for 6 different eye problems. Caught early, these diseases and syndromes can be treated, changing the course of a young child's lifetime of learning and growing. We've screened thousands of children over the last 5 years. WE LOVE THIS PROGRAM! Please join us to change a child's life!

Diabetes Awareness Walk: Lions Clubs International has only recently begun to focus on the epidemic of Diabetes, but we're jumping in full force. Our club holds an annual Diabetes Awareness Walk to raise funds for local education and screening. Our walk is growing, so join us in time to help us plan next June's event!

Pueblo Zoo Lions Exhibit: As part of our environmental community service efforts, we've adopted the lions exhibit at the Pueblo Zoo the last couple of years. As the wonderful lion cubs have grown and flourished, we've been proud to be the sponsor of the exhibit.
Reading Action Plan: Lions believe that reading in school is the greatest skill that can be taught. We have donated funds to several classrooms for many years, and the teachers we support buy books for their classroom libraries. Do you believe reading is essential too? Please join us to join in the fun!

Youth Speech Contest: Our club participates in the Colorado Lions Youth Speech Contest each year. Our high school aged winner goes on to participate in a district contest, and then hopefully, to the state contest, winning cash prizes along the way. This is a great way to introduce youth to the idea of community service, and a great way for us to stay current with what the youth of today are thinking!
International Peace Poster Contest: Students 11 to 13 years old around the world participate in the Lions Peace Poster Contest. What fun it is for our club to judge the entries from local schools! We love the idea of children contemplating what peace means to them, and what their vision is of this world-wide effort.

Sight Conservation Program: In accordance with our mission to be "Knights of the Blind", we have a fund that provides eye exams and eyeglasses to any child in Pueblo City Schools who's teacher or school counselor recommends they get an exam with an optometrist. These children can have their exam and glasses free of charge thanks to Pueblo Charter Lions!

Lake Minnequa Park Adoption: Our Lions contribute to the beauty and cleanliness of the Pueblo Community by performing a weekly litter patrol at the southside park we adopted years ago. Not only that, we have donated a fitness course to the park for the enjoyment of all who walk the beautiful trail that surrounds the lake!

State Fair Parade Pooper Scoopers: For twenty years or so, the Lions of Pueblo Charter Club have performed an even more significant environmental project - we volunteer to march behind the horse entries at the State fair Parade and scoop up the remains so our streets are clean at the end of the day! Our imaginative costumes have often earned us a first place prize with the $500 going to our sight conservation programs.

SOCKTOBERFEST: With PB&T Bank as our collection sight partner, we have hosted a sock collection during the entire month of October, collecting thousands of socks that are donated to Pueblo Cooperative Care.

Recycle for Sight: Pueblo Charter Lions participate in the worldwide effort to recycle used eyeglasses and get the glasses to those in need. Our state has shipped over 1 million eyeglasses to be used in mission trips and health clinics!
